So as you may have seen the first two of a series of Industry Editions have gone up in the shop. Dubstoned 1 and 2 have been remastered and had additional tracks which the physical media wouldn't allow for added to them. You can click the covers to view them...

Discussion here is how we implement getting people who have bought the releases in the past their free new editions for download, as Don and Roel want to show full support for those who buy their physical releases.

As it is highly unlikely people have kept their receipts...  Cheesy The best we have come up with is that each industry edition has a forum thread here. You take a picture of you holding the albvum in question, sign up at the shop if you havent, then we email you your orders for free.

People uncomfortable with public display of their mugs due to illness/fear can message us the pic for their free edition.

Do you think this is a workable concept? Anyone have any input?

Perhaps asking for people's face is a little personal. Maybe the result is more interesting if it is a photo of a record "in the wild" - playing on decks at home or a gig, held aloft with a crowd of 10,000 people in the background, or perhaps with some urban or beautiful nature backdrop. A competition for the best / most loved 'product-placement' shot.

To guard against people taking anonymous photos of other people's wax when out and about, any that are dubious could be re-confirmed by a (not necessarily for display/entry in the competition) identify photo with the person or a message (or code word, number, etc) to appear IN the photo (eg written on a piece of paper placed on the record).

So... not only do people have a chance to get their industry edition, but a good excuse to do something creative and share their expression with you, and some nice results for the Funckens to use elsewhere. Maybe it is in some sense nice to see who is buying the records, but who wants to see a bunch of chin-strokers at home anyway?  Wink

I like the idea of emailing ahead of time to get a code to display in the photo; I also like the creative aspect of the photos in general.  Even with the code, however, there will always be someone that wants to game the system for free tracks, but I would guess that number would be small.  Besides, anyone who is lending their record out for that purpose could save time and just copy the tracks for a friend.  I guess the owners of the records will have to maintain their own integrity...

Perhaps in the future each record should be shipped out with a unique code in the off-chance an Industry edition will be available at some point.

In any case, I already know what I want to do for my photo!  Grin
